Record number of EPDs published

The period from May to August 2023 saw the publication of 35 new EPDs and updates of 7 EPDs by Australian and New Zealand businesses.

Welcoming New Members

23 new EPDs have been published for new members:

  • Altus Industrial Aluminium & Window Systems – their EPD covers residential and commercial window and door products manufactured and fabricated by Altus and their franchised window and door fabricators.
  • APL Window Solutions – their EPD covers windows and doors assembled from extruded coated/ anodised aluminium profiles with thermal breaks and AGP Architectural Glass Products across three product ranges: Residential Series ThermalHEART®, Metro Series ThermalHEART® and Commercial Series.
  • AUSREO has registered their first EPD for Reinforcing Bar and Prefabricated Steel Reinforcement Cages.
  • Avertas Energy is the first large-scale Waste to Energy facility in Australia. Their EPD is for Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA).
  • Bondor® Australia and MetecnoPIR® have four EPDs for insulated floor, roof and wall panels and rigid insulation board. Bondor® Australia has two EPDs published. One EPD is for Australian-made insulated wall panels with a non-combustible mineral wool core insulated wall. The other EPD is for Australian-made insulated wall & roof panels with fire retarded EPS-FR CORE. MetecnoPIR has two EPDs published – one for insulated wall and roof panels with fire-resistant PIR core and one for MetecnoTherm rigid insulation board.
  • Dynex Extrusions Limited – their EPD is for Palliside® uPVC Weatherboards.
  • DSI Underground (APAC) manufactures products that are used in the underground mining and tunnelling sectors. Their EPD is for CT Bolt and Domed Plates.
  • Etex Australia has registered an EPD for their Siniat Plasterboards.
  • Hallett Group’s EPD is for 120 Ready Mix Concrete Products produced across their South Australian batching network.
  • Higgins Contractors – their EPD covers the environmental impacts of 99.5% of Higgins asphalt products produced at its permanent plants in New Zealand.
  • Hirock Aggregates EPD is a cradle-to-gate declaration of the environmental impacts of Aggregate and Sand Products from sites at Te Matai, Linton, Dannevirke and Pahiatua.
  • Holcim New Zealand’s EPD for ECOPlanet Cementitious Product presents a ‘cradle-to-gate’ assessment of the environmental impacts of both bulk and bagged ECOPlanet cement blend.
  • Humes Pipeline Systems – Three EPDs published for their Reinforced Concrete Pipes (RCP), Precast Concrete Products and Precast Concrete Sleepers manufactured in factories throughout New Zealand.
  • Stonelake Pty Ltd had an EPD for their Buildonix® Building System published in June 2023. The EPD covers the core components of the Buildonix® Space Frame, the structural framing system.
  • Timberlink® Australia & New Zealand, a producer of sustainably grown Australian radiata pine timber products, has had two new EPDs published. Timberlink’s Structural Softwood Timber EPD covers 3 types of structural radiata pine timber: Timberlink Untreated Structural, Timberlink Green and Timberlink Blue. The second EPD covers NeXTimber® – a range of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) that will be manufactured on Timberlink’s Tarpeena site in south Australia.

New EPDs from Existing Members

12 new EPDs have been published for existing members BlueScope, Boral Cement and James Hardie Industries.

  • BlueScope has registered ten more EPDs for TRUECORE® steel, ZINCALUME® steel, DECKFORM® steel, COLORBOND® Coolmax® steel, COLORBOND® Intramax® steel, COLORBOND® steel for Insulated Panels, COLORBOND® Ultra steel, COLORBOND® steel Metallic, GALVABOND® steel, and GALVASPAN® steel.
  • Boral – their latest EPD covers bulk cement and cementitious products manufactured in Geelong, Victoria.
  • James Hardie has new and updated EPDs for Fibre Cement Products.

Updated EPDs

7 updated and reverified EPDs have been published for Essity (formerly Asaleo Care), Golden Bay, James Hardie Industries, Winstone Wallboards GIB Plasterboard, and XLam’s Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).

  • Essity, formerly Asaleo Care, has updated three EPDs for Tork® Xpressnap; Tork®, Purex® and Sorbent® Toilet Tissue; and Tork® Hand Towels and Handee Paper Towels. The EPD applies to these products manufactured by Essity in Kawerau, New Zealand.
  • Golden Bay – their updated EPD covers two cement products manufactured at the Portland Site, EcoSure® General Purpose (GP) Cement and EcoFast® High Early Strength (HE) Cement
  • Winstone Wallboards manufactures plasterboard systems under the GIB® brand in New Zealand. Their updated GIB Plasterboard EPD uses a declared unit of 1 square metre of installed plasterboard.
  • XLam’s Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) update follows its decision in January 2022 to use 100% renewable energy to manufacture products in its Wodonga facility in Victoria, Australia.
