EPD Australasia has an organisational structure that involves several parties with separate and mutually interrelated tasks and responsibilities.
EPD Australasia, a limited company registered in New Zealand, is the Programme Operator and has the overall responsibility of the Australasian EPD Programme. EPD Australasia is a joint venture of the Life Cycle Association of New Zealand (LCANZ) and the Australian Life Cycle Society (ALCAS). The Programme operates on a non-profit basis in partnership with the International EPD® System.
EPD Australasia has a Board of Directors to manage the company according to the Governing Principles, and a Secretariat for the day-to-day operations of the programme.
According to ISO 14025, a programme operator has a number of mandatory obligations when fulfilling the duties of managing a programme for environmental declarations. In the EPD Australasia these duties are divided between the Board of Directors, the Secretariat and the Technical Advisory Group.
The Secretariat manages the day-to-day running of the Programme and the registration and publication of new EPDs. Please contact Programme Manager Kelly Taylor here with any questions about EPDs, PCRs or the Australasian EPD Programme.
The Life Cycle Association of New Zealand (LCANZ) exists to provide a focal point for Life Cycle Assessment and Management work conducted in New Zealand. LCANZ promotes networking and knowledge sharing between organisations and people and works to raise awareness of Life Cycle Thinking amongst the wider public and business communities.
The Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society (ALCAS) is Australia’s peak professional organisation for people involved in the use and development of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), management and thinking.
The International EPD® System is a global programme for Type III Environmental Declarations, offering a complete programme for the development and communication of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
They have also partnered with organisations in Argentina (EPD Argentina), Brazil (EPD Brazil), Chile and Mexico (EPD Latin America), Egypt (EPD Egypt), India (EPD India), North America (EPD North America), South East Asia (EPD Southeast Asia), and Turkey (EPD Turkey). The International Secretariat has offices in Sweden that handles EPD registrations and helpdesk requests for all other countries – except China. In China, there is a separate Beijing EPD helpdesk.
The International EPD® System is supportive of other EPD programmes world-wide, seeking to harmonise EPDs across national and sector boundaries.
