The market acceptance of EPDs relies on the publication of environmental information that is reliable and trustworthy. The underlying data, the data handling and the EPD itself are therefore subject to independent verification.
There are two alternatives for verification:
A list of current approved individual verifiers operating in Australia and New Zealand is available here
Bureau Veritas Australia & New Zealand is now accredited to undertake certification for EPD Australasia. Email Judy Auld for more information.
Epsten Group Inc is now accredited to undertake certification for EPD Australasia. Email Lauren Wallace for more information.
The verification must be transparent and result in a report in English by the verifier. The report must document the verification process while adhering to the rules of data confidentiality. This report must be included in the EPD registration request and available to any person upon request.
For construction product EPDs compliant with PCR EN 15804 a special checklist/verification report template has been developed and is available here.
All verification reports must state if the verification is the first to be done by the verifier in the scope of EPD Australasia, as this verification may be subject for an additional check by the Technical Advisory Group.
