The Australasian EPD Programme has introduced a new fee category for small businesses. The Australasian region has many small innovative businesses and this new fee category will make it more accessible for these businesses to provide credible environmental information about their products and services.
From 1st July 2018 businesses with less than 20 employees and NZD$10 million turnover who are registering an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) will qualify for a reduced annual membership fee of NZD$750 per year.
Kelly Taylor, Programme Manager says “We recognise that in New Zealand and Australia there are many environmentally progressive companies We wanted to make EPDs more accessible to them as market demand for EPDs continues to grow.”
An EPD is more than a label. It is an independently verified and registered document that communicates life-cycle environmental impact data about a product, including carbon footprint.
EPDs are recognised by Green Star Australia and New Zealand sustainable building rating schemes as well as the IS rating system of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia.
All Australasian EPDs comply with best practice international standards including ISO 14025 and – for construction products – the more targeted EN 15804.
