Green Star Champions 2024

EPD Australasia congratulates Philippa Stone and Cyril Giraud: Green Star Champions of 2024.

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) recently announced the twenty-six Green Star Champions of 2024, a dedicated group of industry leaders committed to creating a more sustainable built environment. EPD Australasia warmly congratulates all the recipients and particularly Philippa Stone and Cyril Giraud, directors of EPD Australasia, for their outstanding contributions to sustainability.

Green Star Champions 2024 lined up on a stage

The Green Star Champions award is now in its fourth year and recognises engineers, planners, architects, professionals, consultants, and advocates who are fostering a resilient, healthy, and efficient built environment through their work with Green Star certifications.

Jorge Chapa, Chief Impact Officer at GBCA, praised the selected recipients, emphasising the impact of their efforts on the industry.

“The twenty-six Green Star Champions showcase excellence in their chosen fields, united by a common goal: the sustainable transformation of our built environment. Each recipient has demonstrated tireless dedication to creating healthy and efficient places that respond to the climate change challenge,” said Jorge.

Cyril Giraud, Head of Sustainability at Holcim, expressed his gratitude for being recognised, highlighting the importance of the ongoing efforts in sustainability at Holcim.

“Being acknowledged for Holcim’s sustainability initiatives is incredibly rewarding. It validates the hard work and dedication that goes into accelerating a shift to circular, sustainable and energy-efficient cities. We’re working towards the highest standards of sustainable building solutions,” Cyril said.

For Philippa Stone, Sustainability Manager at BlueScope, being named a Green Star Champion recognises the work she has been leading at BlueScope on product sustainability. She is passionate about how products can contribute to achieving sustainable project outcomes.

“This is particularly relevant when it comes to decarbonisation – it’s a time of huge transition in the steel sector and the opportunity for the built environment is immense. The award recognises BlueScope’s longstanding commitment to manufacturing responsible products and reflects the work we are doing in critical areas such as product transparency, stewardship and decarbonisation,” Philippa said.

This year’s Green Star Champions were celebrated at the Green Building Day events across Australia. Visit the GBCA website to see the full list of Champions.
