All EPDs must go through a verification process to ensure the data contained within them is accurate. Most EPDs are verified by an independent third party verifier who is approved by EPD Australasia as competent to verify EPDs. EPD Australasia currently has 10 highly skilled individual verifiers approved to do this.
However, there is the option for organisations to manage the EPD data and verification procedure themselves and issue EPDs without a third-party verifier being involved each time, this can be done if the organisation obtains a process certification. Process certification can streamline the process for organisations in collecting data, conducting LCAs, and developing EPDs on a large scale where well-managed internal EPD procedures are certified by an accredited body.
With EPD process certification, the organisation may handle the management of EPD data involved in the verification procedure by themselves and issue EPDs without a third-party verifier being involved in each case. An organisation that has an EPD process certification assessed and certified by an accredited body on a regular basis is allowed to develop and issue new EPDs for registration and publication with EPD Australasia and update existing published EPDs. For more information on Process Certification please visit www.epd-australasia.com or contact the Secretariat.
