The growing interest in EPDs is illustrated by the number of times six WoodSolutions EPDs have been downloaded. The EPDs registered by Forests and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) as part of their Wood Solutions program have been downloaded over 10,000 downloads since they were first published in 2015.
“Providing EPDs is an important part of our role in supporting the increased use of wood and wood products,” said Eileen Newbury, WoodSolutions National Program Manager, “wood products have a great environmental story and EPDs are helping us tell it with independent data.”
Barbara Nebel, CEO of thinkstep-anz, the company that prepared the EPDs for FWPA said, “This level of interest in comprehensive and independently verified environmental information is extremely encouraging. It goes well beyond my expectations when I was involved in helping establish EPD Australasia five years ago as President of LCANZ (Life Cycle Association of New Zealand). Great to see FWPA through WoodSolutions as an early adopter rewarded for their transparency and leadership in providing robust environmental information in these EPDs.”
The six WoodSolutions EPDs for Australian Softwood Timber, Hardwood Timber, Particleboard, Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), Plywood and Glue Laminated Timber (Glulam) are all available from EPD Australasia, and WoodSolutions websites and – for international recognition – from the website of EPD International.
Note – download data from EPD Australasia and EPD International is available on request for all EPD owners. Please contact the Secretariat.
