Durra Panel

Durra Panel is a compressed straw panel used as a wall and ceiling lining. The engineered biomass panel core is made entirely from reclaimed straw, a greatly wasted material that is a by-product of annual crop harvesting.

Durra Panel is manufactured using an innovative engineered process which converts wasted agricultural by-products into a strong and durable construction material. The dry extrusion process combines heat and pressure, causing the straw fibres to release a natural polymer called lignin that self binds the panel core.

Durra Panel combines the desirable properties of low embodied energy, carbon capture and storage, strength, impact resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation together with a high degree of fire resistance. Durra Panel is a long life building material, well over half a century of service life without performance degradation. Durra Panel is 100% biodegradable. If it does come to the end of a Durra Panel’s useful life it can be shredded and returned back to the earth, enhancing soil structure and future growth.
