Record number of EPDs Published in 2018

The interest in EPDs as an effective benchmark for product and service sustainability continues to increase globally. In 2018 the International EPD System published a record breaking 270 Environmental Product Declarations.

Construction products remain the main product category, but the breadth of industries continues to expand with new EPDs being published for a wide range of goods and services, including food, transport equipment and paper products.

The publication of 16 new Product Category Rules (PCRs) during 2018 opened up the possibility for EPDs in additional categories, including textiles and coffee.

EPDs also continue to spread geographically, with 28 different countries represented in 2018. The highest number of EPDs came from Italy, Turkey, Spain, France and Sweden.
