The International EPD System has announced new Product Category Rules (PCRs) for the global tyre industry.
A PCR is the backbone of any EPD in that it details the specific requirements of what needs to be in the EPD and the background LCA report. The PCR is critical to ensuring transparency, consistency and comparability of EPDs within any given product group
The launch of the PCR now means tyre manufacturers and suppliers can focus on developing EPDs for individual tyre products, enabling Australian and New Zealand companies, consumers and businesses to measure and compare the environmental impacts of each brand. The local tyre industry has already shown leadership in reducing environmental impacts, with both Australia and New Zealand running product stewardship programs’ for tyres
