Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd is a leading supplier of cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete in Aotearoa New Zealand. Its involvement in the New Zealand building industry dates back to 1888. Holcim New Zealand is part of the regional Holcim Australia/New Zealand business and the global Holcim Group; a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions driven by its purpose to build progress for people and the planet. ECOPlanet is Holcim NZ’s low-carbon cement blend that provides at least a 30% reduction in carbon intensity without compromising performance (when manufactured in Auckland using a GP Cement to GGBFS ratio of 60:40, and when compared to standard GP cement).

These EPDs present a ‘cradle-to-gate’ assessment of the environmental impacts of both bulk and bagged ECOPlanet cement blends. They cover raw material extraction in Japan right the way through cement production, transportation to the import terminals in New Zealand and end with regional depot operations, including bagging of cement and bag ‘end-of-life’ where this occurs.

The life cycle assessment provides quantitative, objective and third-party verified data, which Holcim NZ is able to utilize to continuously improve its products and processes.
