Circular Economy and EPDs

Explore how EPDs are driving circular economy practices in the built environment

This webinar/event was held on: February 26, 2026

This recorded webinar explores how EPDs serve as a practical tool for advancing circular economy goals in the built environment.

Beyond providing verified products data on resource use, waste generation, and end-of-life scenarios, EPDs increasingly provide information on pre and post-consumer recycled content, as well as comprehensive circular economy metrics such as Materials Circularity Indicators (MCI). These metrics are being incorporated into procurement frameworks and sustainability rating tools, including Green Star, which are prioritising circular economy measures.

In this session, David Bell – Manager Sustainability & Insight at InfraBuild Steel, Brad Scott – Director of Transmutation Pty Ltd, and Steve Mitchell – Director at EPD Australia discuss how they are using EPDs and circular economy metrics to engage customers and support business growth. Jim Goddin – Head of Circular Economy, thinkstep-anz also joins the panel for the Q&A session.

Topics covered:

  • Circular economy metrics available in EPDs
  • Practical examples of metrics
  • Recycled content and MCI indicators from a broader market & sustainability rating tool perspective
  • Positioning circular economy metrics to support developer and government procurement
  • Audience Q&A

Who should watch:

  • Sustainable infrastructure professionals
  • Businesses with registered EPDs
  • Businesses considering developing an EPD
  • Green Building practitioners and sustainability consultants with an interest in the circular economy

Thank you to everyone who joined us live. If you missed the session, a recording of the webinar is now available to watch at your convenience. You can also download the presentation slides.
