Softwood Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam)

This sector EPD covers Australian-produced glued laminated timber (glulam / GLT). The forestry stage, the processing of sawlogs into sawn timber products, and the final glue-laminating steps are performed at numerous sites around Australia.

The declared unit is 1 cubic metre of glulam. The scope is cradle to gate with modules C1–C4 and module D (A1–A3 + C + D). The production stage includes forestry, log haulage, sawing, kiln-drying, planing, finger-jointing, face-bonding, pressing and curing, finishing, and packaging. Environmental information is also supplied for preservative treatment.

The document complies with the requirements for an industry-wide EPD under the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star rating system and the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA).
