PVC Non-Pressure Pipes for Building Applications
Iplex Pipelines Australia Pty Ltd
Please note this EPD has reached the end of its validity. An update is currently underway.
This EPD covers PVC pressure pipes ranging from 15-300mm nominal diameter for a range of pressure applications, including water reticulation and supply, irrigation, and pumped sewerage. The EPD includes separate results for three separate unplasticised PVC materials: standard unplasticised PVC (PVC-U), bi-axially oriented PVC (PVC-O), and modified PVC (PVC-M).
Iplex PVC-U pressure pipes are manufactured in accordance with the Australian Standards for PVC pressure pipe (AS/NZS 1477, AS/NZS 4765 and AS/NZS 4441), which have adapted the Best Environmental Practice PVC requirements developed with industry and the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). Iplex PVC-U pressure pipe contains no phthalates, dioxins or heavy metal additives (e.g. lead and cadmium).
The EPD conforms with EN 15804 and PCR 2012:01 Construction Products and Construction Services v2.0, the EPD follows a “cradle-to-gate with options” scope including all modules up to installation at site (A1-A5). The EPD was based on a cradle to grave life cycle assessment study and other modules were deemed not relevant. The declared unit is one kilogram (1kg) of average installed PVC-U, PVC-O, and PVC-M pressure pipe manufactured in Australia from sites in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
This EPD complies with the requirements for a ‘product-specific EPD’ and can be used to obtain Product Sustainability credits under the GBCA Green Star rating tools.
