Reflecting on 2025: Growth, recognition, and looking ahead

A message from CEO Kelly Taylor

Reflecting on a big year

As 2025 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what’s been a big year for EPD Australasia and to share a glimpse of what’s ahead.

One of the highlights for me was meeting so many of our EPD owners and stakeholders at our half-day conferences in October. The energy, ideas, and conversations reminded me just how strong and committed this community is. Planning is already underway for a full event in Auckland in the first half of the New Year, and I’m looking forward to seeing even more of you there.

Growth and recognition

2025 has seen so many new EPDs! It’s been fantastic to see the continued growth in the number of EPDs published across Australasia. Each one is important and represents a step forward, and together they’re building momentum in the market. We now have over 3,400 current EPDs published from 175 different organisations.

We are thrilled that Australasian EPDs continue to gain recognition as the gold standard in credible environmental impact and carbon disclosure. The recent acknowledgement and increase in Green Star Responsible Product Value from 5 to 7 is a result of our ongoing advocacy on your behalf.

Acknowledging our community

I’d like to acknowledge everyone who has contributed to our programme this year, either as an EPD owner, our highly skilled independent verifiers and certification bodies, LCA/EPD consultants, and our other stakeholders. We appreciate the excellent feedback you provided in our recent survey. Your feedback helps shape our priorities and ensures we’re focusing on what matters most.

Looking ahead to 2026

Looking ahead, we acknowledge the challenges in this fast-moving sustainability environment. There are many positive developments in tools and resources to assist in developing, verifying and publishing EPDs to lower costs and speed development. We are committed to assisting organisations trialling these, whilst ensuring they meet our high standards for credibility and transparency.

We’ll also continue to strengthen our support for EPD owners, expand opportunities for collaboration, and increase our advocacy for rewarding disclosure of verified environmental LCA data. With more events, more resources and tools, 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season, and I look forward to working together in the year ahead.
